VILLAGERS in Colwall and Coddington will celebrate the opening of a new circular walk on Sunday, October 12.

The Two Churches and a Vineyard Walk has been devised by Colwall parish councillor James Ferguson, in collaboration with Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in an effort to encourage people to walk in places other than the Malvern Hills.

"It's a popular walk already and has been walked by a lot of groups," said Mr Ferguson. "It was a huge success at the Herefordshire walking festival this summer."

The walk can start from either Colwall or Coddington and on the Sunday, the walkers will start from the Coddington end, meeting at the church at 9.45am for 10am.

They will go to Coddington Vineyard, passing through Hope End to view the ancient walled garden, up Oyster Hill, to Colwall church and across the fields back to Coddington.

Their route will include a stop at the Alehouse for refreshments about three quarters of the way round.

In 2001 Mr Ferguson published a walk in memory of Colwall parish clerk Martin Brent, who passed away in 2000.

Colwall Parish Council funded this walk, together with the AONB. Leaflets for the walk are available in TICs and Colwall Post Office.
