West Malvern Cricket Club is planning its winter series of monthly quiz evenings at the village hall, starting on Saturday, October 18. The celebrated quizmaster Andy Dakin has again been retained regardless of expense, and enjoyable evenings are assured for all. Newcomers (teams of four) are always welcome - details/table bookings from Lorna Dudley on 565422.
The October parish council meeting has been brought forward to Monday, October 6, deviating from its usual 'second Monday in the month' date. Among the agenda items are the proposals put forward by the parish tree wardens for the planting of Golden Jubilee tree on the playing fields, with a suitable plaque to commemorate the Queen's 50 years on the throne. The fund for public subscriptions to help pay for the tree itself, the plaque, and the necessary protection against wind, pests and vandalism is still open. Tree wardens Janet Whittlestone (572384) and Hilary Elgar (568960) will be happy to accept further contributions.
