THE circle-dancing evening on Saturday, October 11, promises to be even more enjoyable than the ceilidhs and will offer entertainment for all the family. Olivia and Richard Hunt who moved to Wellington Heath two years ago, are both experienced classical musicians and have been playing circle dancing since 1992. The dancing will run from 7.30-11pm. Tickets will cost £6 for adults, £4 for children and £16 for a family of two adults and two children. The price includes a ploughman's supper and there will be a licensed bar. Tickets can be obtained in advance from hall committee members or at the door on the night.

The garden club meets on October 15 when Daphne Everett of The Bannut garden at Bringsty will speak on the History of the English Garden.

On October 17 at 7.30pm, David Fletcher's illustrated talk will cover Arctic flora and fauna and the Inuit people. David is a professional lecturer on board cruise ships travelling to the Arctic and Antarctic and his service as a base commander with the British Antarctic Survey means that he knows the polar regions very well. Tickets will be available at the door and will cost £3 and can be reserved by contacting Allan Wood on 01531 633698.

Provided there are sufficient enrolments, a ten-week bridge course for beginners under the national Bridge for All scheme will be held in the Memorial Hall.

The teacher is Sarah Mathews and the cost is £50, payable in advance.

It runs from October 14 to December 16 at 2-4pm, and to enrol, call Sarah Mathews (01981 540274) or Neville Shorrick (01531 633475) by October 9.

The Macmillan coffee morning last Friday collected £146 - thanks from the organiser to everyone who participated.
