HAVE you purchased your tickets for the village harvest supper being held tomorrow (Saturday)? The event starts at 7.45pm with buffet and a glass of wine included in the price of £7.50 per person. Powick Ramblers' first walk of October took place on yesterday (Thursday) around Leigh church, a total of five miles, and was led by Phil and Joy Bunyan. The next walk takes place on Thursday, October 9, and will again be outside the parish. Peter and Isabel Brant will lead a four-mile walk by the Droitwich canal. On Tuesday, October 7, a sandwich and fresh fruit lunch is being hosted by Thea Wild at Rayvue, Old Malvern Road, Powick, with proceeds in aid of the Bible Society.

Congratulations to the Nichol family, David, Lynn and children Thomas and Catherine, for their sponsored cycle ride in September, which raised £270 in aid of the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust.

Another book fair is being held in Powick Parish Hall on Sunday, October 12, from 10am-4.30pm.

The RSPB local group meets in Powick Parish Hall on Wednesday, October 8, at 7.30pm..There is the chance to buy bird seed, bird food and accessories. New members welcome (adult £1 per meeting, children free).

Last month's meeting of the Powick Guild welcomed Malcolm Rankin of FOAG, who with his associates formed the Farmers Overseas Action Group in 1981, which has been working in Uganda since 1984. Various projects have included centres for handicapped and disabled children, hospitals, Cheshire homes, animal re-stocking and building essential water supply lines. The talk was illustrated by slides showing the development and success of the ventures.

The October meeting on Tuesday, October 7, at 2.30pm in Powick Hall will take the form of a quiz organised by Pat Smith. There will also be a swap shop of seeds and cuttings. The trip to the Jinny Ring Centre and Webbs Garden Centre will take place on Tuesday, November 18, and will cost £4.50. The coach leaves Colletts Green at 10am and returns at 4.30pm, and seats need to be booked with Rita de Boer 01905 830256.

The harvest festival at St Peter's Church, Powick will be held at 11am on Sunday, October 12. The church will be open on Friday, October 10, from noon till 2pm for decorating with greenery, flowers, produce and fruit. Offers of any of these would be welcome, as would offers of help.
