RECORDING-breaking attendance figures at a Malvern autumn show meant tourist information centres were flooded with calls from people looking for accommodation.
A total of 64,000 visitors attended this year's Autumn, Garden and Country Show, held last weekend at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern.
With many of the visitors requiring overnight accommodation, Malvern District Council's tourist information centres were inundated with calls requesting advice on where to find additional beds.
And hoteliers and bed and breakfast proprietors in the district were celebrating the knock-on effect of the show's success, which smashed 2002's 48,000 attendance figure.
"There wasn't a spare bed in the south of the district and beyond," said Councillor Tom Wells, leader of the district council.
"The success of the show meant visitors stayed as far afield as Gloucester and Hereford, spreading the economic success right across the three counties."
