BOGEY side Carlisle United are hardly the ideal opposition for Kidderminster Harriers to recover from their current predicament.

Carlisle visit Aggborough on Saturday and are the only side to prevent Harriers hitting the bottom of the Division Three table.

Kidderminster are yet to beat the Cumbrians in the Football League and must try again in their fourth season at the professional level.

And with confidence hardly flowing at Aggborough, the weekend encounter will take on even more importance.

Harriers lost 2-1 at home to Carlisle last season and drew 2-2 at Brunton Park, thanks to a Dion Scott equaliser.

Their one victory was in the LDV Trophy in 2000, a 2-1 extra-time success on a water-soaked pitch.

Harriers should take heart from Carlisle's terrible run though which saw the sacking of Irish boss Roddy Collins.

Paul Simpson, who led Rochdale in the last campaign, is the caretaker manager but results have not improved for the annual strugglers.

And Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat to fellow lowly side Leyton Orient will have again tested most of their fans' patience.

They have lost every game on their travels, except for a 2-2 draw at Southend late last month.

Carlisle have signed Hartlepool forward Kevin Henderson on loan but he is struggling with a knee injury.

Simpson has a thigh problem and experienced centre-back Paul Raven (calf) also missed their midweek game.

Top scorer is Richie Foran with three goals in the last five fixtures.
