PASSIONATE entrepreneurs are being sought for an innovative business programme that helps people set up their own companies.

The call has gone out to Worcestershire business people as the third phase of the TeamStart programme rolls out.

TeamStart provides a collective environment where people can talk about aspirations and plans, while benefiting from training and mentoring from industry experts.

The initiative is managed by Mustard.uk.com, the business support programme for new and high-growth companies, and aims to capture, nurture and develop budding entrepreneurs with a passion to start their own company.

The programme, which is delivered by the University of Warwick Science Park (UWSP) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has so far created 30 high-growth businesses in the West Midlands.

Recruitment for the third phase has just started and the scheme is looking for as many high-calibre people from Worcestershire as possible.

But Harry Stott, from UWSP, said the scheme was not a "quick fix" option.

"There are a lot of people out there who have exciting ideas and aspirations of starting their own company but are unsure of where to begin or how to measure the financial risks that go with it," said Mr Stott.

"This is not a quick-fix training session or easy option. For the right person, this is the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who can help translate exciting concepts into viable, robust companies."

Bob Smith, director at PwC's Birmingham office, said TeamStart had developed a formula that "really works".

"From past experience, some of the best entrepreneurs are those who have not discovered their hidden talents, perhaps someone who is career blocked, has just graduated or is searching for that all-important concept.

TeamStart, which is funded by regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands, is due to launch on Saturday, November 8.

The scheme is looking to attract more than 60 future entrepreneurs. For more information phone 0800 5870721.
