BROTHERS-in-law from Bewdley are hoping to hit the high notes at a charity concert in aid of Breast Cancer Research.

Guitarist Nigel Mayall and singer Geoff Betty of Bewdley rock band Onan have organised the fund-raising gig in memory of their late Kidderminster mother-in-law Mary Farrel, who died of breast cancer in January.

The musicians, who are married to Bewdley sisters Leanne Mayall and Lindsay Betty, said they hoped the concert would raise as much cash as possible at the concert in Bewdley Institute's Wheat Sheaf Room on Friday, October 10.

Their band, which also includes Bewdley electrical contracting engineer Steve Smith and Mike Nock from Clows Top, are also set to record their first album with Bewdley sound engineer Marcus Miller of Simplesounds.

And 40-year-old Nigel, of Richmond Road, said he "could not wait" for their live performance which will be supported by fellow Bewdley band Twin Stevenson.

"We have been writing songs for our album for the last two years and cannot wait to perform live," he said.

"We perform very English rock music with very powerful classical overtones using piano and big guitar and drum sounds."

He added: "We did a gig at last year's Bewdley Fringe and at the Shed at Brierley Hill and then tragedy struck when my mother-in-law died - so we want to donate some money from this gig to charity in her memory."

More information on the event, which starts at 8.30pm, can be obtained by calling 07973 900172.

Tickets are also available from Bewdley Books and Bewdley hairdressers' James@It.
