FIREFIGHTERS were called to Bewdley Hill in Kidderminster after a cracked fuel line caused a Porsche to catch fire on Thursday night.

Leading firefighter Tony Wilks said it took five crew members with two sets of breathing apparatus about half an hour to deal with the blaze caused by the fuel pipe spilling petrol on to the car's engine.

The Kidderminster driver of the vehicle escaped unhurt but police closed the road for about 10 minutes while firefighters used foam to put out the flames.

Mr Wilks added: "The road was closed off for people's own safety because they couldn't really see through the smoke.

"No-one was hurt but the car was totally destroyed."
