A COURAGEOUS teenager's bid to raise awareness of a rare genetic condition paid off when a fun day she helped organise generated £403.

Fourteen-year-old Emma Browning, who discovered she had Turner Syndrome - which causes infertility and stunted growth - eight years ago, teamed up with charity stalwart Michael Butler to arrange the event at Bewdley's Severnside North.

And the Bewdley High School pupil - who also spent her summer holidays helping out at her grandmother Jackie Presley's weekly Kidderminster market stall in aid of the Turner Syndrome Support Society - has got a taste for fund-raising.

After receiving a certificate of thanks from the TSSS, the teenager of Cleobury Road, Bewdley, is planning her next charity collaboration with Mr Butler, this time in aid of Alzheimer's sufferers.

"It hasn't put me off and I'm ready to do the next one," she said of last month's fun day, which included live entertainment and stalls.

"It's brilliant to have got the certificate from TSSS saying 'Thank you for your help and we hope to hear from you again'."

Her grandmother Jackie, who works with Mr Butler, a chef at the Little Pack Horse pub, added: "It just went brilliantly. It was a lovely day which we all enjoyed."

Meanwhile, Mr Butler, who has raised more than £2,000 for various charities since January, is on a well-deserved holiday in Greece.

He and Emma first worked together in June when they raised £415 for Meningitis Research from a Stourport fun day.
