A FORTY-MILE cycle ride provided the new fund-raising chief with his first sponsored donation.
Some 20 staff from Titan Steel Wheels in Cookley took on the trip to Wolverhampton and back to raise more than £700 for Kemp Hospice.
Alan Ierston said the event had marked a "good baptism" to his career with the charity.
"I was astonished with the commitment and good nature of everyone that took part," he said.
Mr Ierston added the company had agreed to promote Wolverhampton Wanderers' lottery which benefits the hospice and the forthcoming Kemp Christmas cards.
