IMPROVING Stourport were unlucky not to win at Stourbridge Lions on Saturday in a 7-7 North Midlands Two tie.

They enjoyed most of the possession and territory but the home side started stronger through good attacking moves down the wing.

Stourport defended well under pressure and counter-attacked, soon taking control only for several missed tackles to let in Stourbridge for a converted try.

The town were 7-0 down at half-time after missing two penalties but began well in the second period without breaking down their opponents' defence.

David Morris took a quick tap penalty and swept past several players to score under the posts 20 minutes into the half.

Morris then converted his try to pull Stourport level but another missed penalty and a drop-goal attempt could have sealed a win for the visitors.

However, the overall display was superb with forwards and backs working well together.

Fixture, Saturday: Stourport v Tenbury.
