CHESS: Kidderminster A began the defence of their Wolverhampton League Division One title in unexpected circumstances.
They were awarded a 6-0 default home win as opponents Lichfield A could not raise a team.
Kidderminster B had to settle for a 3-3 home draw with Lichfield B in their opening Division Two match.
Wins by Mark Riley and Derek Digger provided a promising start but Lichfield battled back.
