MOTORSPORT: Kidderminster's Lee Bennett drove well for fifth in the penultimate UK Monoposto Championship round at Mallory Park.
Slow traffic and damp conditions kept Bennett down to eighth in qualifying but the gamble of car changes to improve his straight-line speed paid off.
He made a reasonable start in the final and a three-way battle to the flag for fifth place ensued.
Bennett overtook Richard Purcell and then pushed his Team Redwoods Reynard F3 past Jeremy Goodwin on the last lap for fifth.
The next round is at Brands Hatch on November 2 for Bennett who was runner-up at Donington Park earlier in the season.
