REDDITCH United were knocked out of the FA Cup by minnows Shirebrook Town on penalties and then lost the services of club coach Kim Casey at an ugly night in Mansfield.

In the FA Cup replay last night (Wednesday, October 1) the Northern Counties East side scored two goals in two minutes after just half an hour leaving the Reds a massive up-hill fight.

But fight they did, and pulled one back six minutes later through Martin Myers.

Nav Arshad grabbed a dramatic equaliser as the final whistle blew.

Extra time was goalless and a nail biting penalty shootout ensued but the Reds lost out 4-1.

But United will now be writing to the FA after constant racist chanting from the Shirebrook faithful aimed at Reds captain Mark Taylor, Martin Myers and striker Nav Arshad.

Redditch United chairman, Pat Cremin said: "I was absolutely disgusted - there is no place for it in the game I feel duty bound to report it - it was coming from all the way around the ground.

"I haven't heard anything like it since the 1970s.

"We will be writing to the FA who will deal with it - it's not sour grapes because at the end of the day we lost by bad defending."

In an exclusive interview with the Advertiser, the Redditch United chairman also said that coach Kim Casey has left the club and returned to Moor Green.
