A WOMAN cyclist was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being in a collision with a van in Lower Wick, Worcester, this morning.
The woman, who has not been named, was in collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van at about 7.20am on the Lower Wick roundabout, Malvern Road, near to Bennett's Farms & Foods.
Police cordoned off part of the road near to the Jet garage, in Malvern Road, and traffic was held up as motorists moved around the scene.
Staff at the garage phoned the ambulance service and the cyclist was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital suffering serious head injuries.
"I didn't see what happened but I phoned the ambulance," said Mark Ivin, assistant manager at the garage.
"The traffic was awfully busy after the accident, with people struggling to get around it."
Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 08457 444 888, quoting 53S/02103.
