HOME design programmes are scaring more people than they are helping, according to an interior designer who has launched her own consultancy.
Jules Dodd has launched Diamond Interior Designs to guide homeowners through the "maze of styles and minefield of accessories" involved in creating a dream home.
Her services cover design consultancy and also advice on soft furnishings, creative lighting, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
Decision
"Design programmes on television have made people more aware of the possibilities but they are short on advice on how to create a look that is followed right through," said Mrs Dodd, who runs the business from her home near Bromsgrove.
The decision to start her own design consultancy was prompted by the reaction of homebuyers visiting show apartments at developments by Dodd Homes, run by her husband Steve Dodd.
