A WOMAN is appealing to Redditch Council to carry out landscaping work on St George's Road as she fears someone may be killed.

Last Saturday, Jarmaine Pinkerton was crossing the road outside her home in St George's when she was hit by a car.

The driver had not been speeding but had been unable to see past the shrubbery on the road bend.

Miss Pinkerton escaped with only minor injuries, including a damaged ankle and cuts, but the police told her they had been called out to a number of accidents at the same spot.

Despite moving into her rented house with her partner just five weeks ago, Miss Pinkerton has now decided to move because she fears for her safety and that of other people.

Miss Pinkerton said: "I was so lucky because I escaped with minor injuries but it's just a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or even killed.

"Some drivers speed into the road but even the ones who take it at a sensible pace cannot see people crossing until its too late.

"The situation is so worrying, I'm moving but there's a young family with children moving in afterwards and I fear for the youngsters.

"The shrubbery needs to be cut back so drivers have a clearer view of anyone crossing the road.

"Even though I'm moving, I still intend to plead with the council to carry out this work before something terrible happens to someone."
