AN elderly woman was conned out of £65 on her doorstep by a man who said his mother had just died and was desperately trying to get to Scotland.
Alcester police are now investigating the deception, which happened at Croft Lane, Temple Grafton, on Monday, September 15, at about 10.15am.
The man knocked at the elderly woman's door and said he was trying to get hold of the local vicar.
He then asked for the money to get to Scotland because of the death of his mother.
The man was said to be very convincing and police have described him as white, aged in his mid 20s, very pale skinned, very skinny and about 5ft 6ins with mousey short hair.
He was wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans and was also clean shaven and respectable looking.
Pc Mark Savidge, from Alcester Police Station, is appealing for information about the deception and anybody who has seen this man or who has been approached by someone fitting the description with a similar story should contact him on 762207.
