UNDER the heading in the advertisement feature on behalf of Redditch Council, entitled Making A Difference (Advertiser, September 17)...and I quote, 'Redditch Borough Council and its partners are working hard to make a real difference to Redditch'...blah, blah, blah...(but here's the best bit) 'we want to continue to make a difference to Redditch and we want people to be proud that they live or work here'.

Now I know they are havin' a larf then.

Such points like adopting land, cutting the grass, weed-infested gutters and missing bollards on the calming zones, to name just a few items on the list, have surely never been overlooked, have they?

Certainly on our estate, namely Brockhill, we are (were) proud of where we live and have tried to keep it looking respectable.

But we are very much reliant on the council in order to provide the services in order to maintain it, which so far have not been very forthcoming.

For at least the last six months, I and other residents have been bombarding the council with letters, faxes and e-mails, all to no avail.

Let us see how quickly they respond when I apply the same approach when it comes to paying my council tax.
