WITH regard to the bus pass dispute, Gavin Smithers obviously has little knowledge of the Dial-a-Ride system and its inherent drawbacks.
Forty-eight hours notice is required when wishing to use the service.
For a return journey, a separate booking is required but how does one give a time for return from a trip to a supermarket, bearing in mind the possibility of delays caused by crowds or queues at checkouts?
In any case, the service is already almost as costly as using buses at full fare. What does one do when there's a sudden need to visit the supermarket?
Pensioners and the disabled do not normally have cars which can be used and the bus service is their transport.
