A driver who failed to stop after hitting and severely injuring a 12-year-old Redditch boy has come forward following an appeal in the Advertiser.
The Redditch man, who has not been named, contacted police after the mother of Todd Morgan made an emotional plea for him to make himself known.
Todd suffered two leg fractures and a damaged pancreas and his spleen had to be removed after the collision on Rough Hill Drive on Sunday, September 21.
The Dingleside Middle School pupil, who is still recovering in the Alexandra Hospital, has undergone several operations and will have to take antibiotics for the rest of his life.
Pc Nick Ferguson said yesterday: "The man came forward on Wednesday evening. He has been interviewed and we are currently gathering statements.
"The investigation team would like to thank the public for the response we had from the appeal - it was fantastic.
"We were inundated with calls. It was overwhelming and one of the best responses we have ever seen."
