POLICE seized the largest drugs bong they have ever seen during a high profile operation in Redditch at the weekend.

The large water cooler container, found in most offices, was recovered from youngsters who had gathered at the wooded area behind Astwood Bank park.

Police had mounted a high-profile operation in an attempt to stamp out problems with anti-social behaviour, including vandalism, alcohol abuse and drug taking.

Pc Simon Worley, of Redditch police, said: "The beat manager for the area asked us to target certain areas over the weekend.

"We went to the underpass by Tidbury Close, Lightoak Close and Callow Hill Lane, Astwood Bank play area and Springvale Road play area.

"We found definite signs of drug use in all the areas."

Pc Worley added: "The youths were dealt with and we took the bong, which was the biggest we had ever seen, away.

"The targeted patrols were very effective and we had some positive results.

"We want to warn parents about the things that have been going on and where the problem areas are.

"We would urge them to make sure they know where their children are and what they are up to."
