THE REDI Centre is a unique, central community facility for everyone to obtain or enhance their qualifications in, for example, IT and other work-related courses.

We fear that should the council's proposal to withdraw funding be approved, Redditch would lose the following:

- A superb community spirit and relaxed atmosphere the centre has to offer.

- Excellent quality of teaching provided by all tutors. Students benefit from individual attention and a genuine commitment to help them succeed.

- Superb crche facilities without which many parents would not have been able to complete courses.

- Coffee bar which provides a unique service which includes a commitment to healthy eating and children's meals at affordable costs and will cater for people's dietary requirements.

- Excellent staff who make the centre the superb facility it is today.

- All-encompassing training facilities for the disabled.

- Central course provider for the unemployed and people on low income.

We need the support of students, past, present and future and would therefore urge you to voice your objections and gain the support of anybody you feel appropriate, for example, health visitor, social worker, medical professional.

Please send your letters addressed to REDI Action Group c/o the REDI Centre, 54 South Street, Redditch B98 7DQ by October 8.Your valued support will then be presented to councillors prior to the council meeting on October 20 at which your presence would also be welcomed.

We must fight to keep the REDI Centre running in its unique form.
