HE was said to be lonely in Madrid, while she partied the night away in London but the Advertiser/Messenger can exclusively reveal that Posh and Becks were together in Belbroughton.

The Beckhams, Bob Marley and the cast of the Calendar Girls were just a few of the famous straw-creations which popped up at the village's sixth two-day Scarecrow event.

Thousands of visitors invaded the usually tranquil village of Belbroughton for the annual fundraiser, admired the scarecrows and joined in the host of fun activities

From tours of the village church to the farmers' market and from Punch and Judy puppet shows to music from a Caribbean steel band, there was something for everyone.

Paul Reynolds, one of the event's organisers, said: "It was absolutely magical. Chaotic at times but totally wonderful."

Paul estimates that about 15,000 visitors descended on the village helping to raise money for the first school, the church and a number of other worthwhile causes.

At the time the Advertiser/Messenger went to press the pennies were still being counted

"There really were too many highlights to mention, although the skydiving scarecrows were as popular as ever," Paul added.

On Sunday afternoon, BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester presenter Kate Smith presented the awards for the best scarecrows.

The winners were the three households which had joined forces to make characters from the hit film Calendar Girls, staring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters. Their set impressed the judges as it also included music.

"I would like to thank all the people who came down to Belbroughton and made this event the success it was," said Paul.
