The speaker at our September meeting was Tony Hughes and his subject was British wild orchids.

I suspect that Mr Hughes must have spent a lot of time on his knees in order to bring us these superb slides which showed so clearly why these amazing plants have such appropriate names - spider, fly, man, lady slipper and bee orelid are a few examples.

His talk was most informative and was followed by a question and answer session. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 9, at the Friends Meeting House, Sandhills Road, Barnt Green, where the speaker will be Hilary Twigg whose subject will be preparation for winter. The meeting starts at 8pm and visitors and new members are most welcome.
