DEAR EDITOR -- In recent years Droitwich residents defeated despicable plans by developers, to cut down a wonderful avenue of horse chestnuts trees that greets visitors entering our town along Hanbury Road.
The tradition of Spa youngsters collecting conkers from these trees over generations is part of autumn in our little town.
Two new traffic islands have just been built on Hanbury Road, either side of the motorway bridge, to provide access for fresh housing developments. I observe part of those road works is a second footpath, surreptitiously created behind an original that runs beside these trees.
It seems the road is to be widened by felling these beautiful trees and removing the current pathway.
Council planners appear devoted to destroying the natural heritage and beauty of Droitwich Spa.
This is yet another example of their hidden agenda for corporate vandalism. Blind in their thirst for building at any cost.
Wychavon are bonkers to destroy our conkers!
