BROMSGROVE Rovers must produce yet another victory away from the Victoria Ground if they are to stand on the brink of the FA Cup proper.

George Rooney's side has been handed a trip to either Hucknall Town or Congleton Town in the third qualifying round on Saturday week.

Success in that match would leave them just one win away from the first round proper and a possible match against Football League opposition.

It is the fourth journey in a row Rovers have had to make in this season's competition following a 4-0 win at Cradley, 1-0 win at Studley and last Saturday's surprise 2-0 success at Dr Martens Premier team Hednesford Town.

The boss said of the latter victory: "We were first to almost every second ball and we stuck to our game plan for 90 minutes, which allowed for some good individual performances."

Rooney is also delighted with the contributions of strikers Mark Atkinson and Peter Sutton despite the club still searching for extra goal power.

"Although the boys up front have done brilliantly in the last couple of games, we need goals. Mark and Peter's work rate has been phenomenal."

Rooney is looking at two unnamed transfer targets but one would be cup tied for both the FA Cup trip and this Saturday's FA Trophy Preliminary Round home match with Sutton Coldfield Town. The other is helping his club overcome a double suspension.

In addition, Sam Bowen is still recovering from whiplash sustained in a car accident last month.
