REDDITCH Music Society's 42nd season of classical concerts opens on Saturday at the Ecumenical Centre with On Wings of Song, a programme originally devised for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

The work will be performed by soprano Glenys Groves and messo soprano Andrea Hazell, accompanied by pianist Jennifer Partridge, one of Britain's leading accompanists who has achieved international renown with her distinguished brother Ian Partridge.

The singers, both members of the Covent Garden Company, will perform ballads, duets and piano pieces from the Victorian era. The music comes from operas and operetta such as The Opera Ball and The Bohemian Girl plus Gilbert and Sullivan and music by Elgar and Mendelssohn.

Tickets for the concert, at 7.30pm, are priced £7.50 (£6.50 concessions) and are available on the door or on 546056. Accompanied children of school age are admitted free.
