A PENSIONER died in Worcestershire Royal Hospital only a couple of days after falling near to his home, an inquest heard.

Retired builder Barry Stimpson, aged 76, fell over not far from his home, on St George's Crescent in Droitwich, while out on a walk on Tuesday, September 23.

Worcestershire coroner Victor Round told an inquest yesterday at Stourport-on-Severn that Mr Stimpson was found with a bump on the right side of his face by a neighbour, who called his wife to tell her what had happened.

"He had lunch as usual and then, during the afternoon, he started to complain of a headache so he was admitted to hospital," he said.

Mr Stimpson died two days later in hospital and Dr Jain gave the cause of death as a right subdural haematoma, or internal bruising in the head.

Mr Round recorded a verdict of accidental death.
