THE food and pharmacy divisions of community retailer West Midlands Co-op have gained Investors in People accreditation.
They have joined the travel, funeral, care homes, post offices, head office, finance and human resources departments in achieving the national standard.
Paul Byrne, superintendent pharmacist for the company, said it was confirmation the pharmacy division was "at the top of its game" in training and developing its staff.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the award as it shows we are committed to staff development skills," he said.
"The Investors in People planning process has enabled us to develop a training and development programme and we will regularly assess this to ensure employees are up-to-date with their skills and build on our success."
The pharmacy division employs 233 staff and operates 32 pharmacy units and one beauty salon in the West Midlands.
West Midlands Co-op is also a major food retailer, employing more than 1,100 people in the food division across 20 convenience stores and 14 supermarkets.
