A WOMAN caught ferrying drugs into Worcester for a dealer has been jailed for four years.

Stephanie Rivett was a passenger in a car stopped by police who noticed that both occupants seemed nervous, Worcester Crown Court heard.

An intimate search at the city's police station revealed crack cocaine in her bra worth £2,230 and heroin worth £1,400 concealed inside her body.

She explained that she met the dealer on the M5 motorway to buy heroin for personal use. He asked her to carry the cocaine on his behalf, said Delroy Henry, prosecuting.

Rivett, aged 29, of Drake Avenue, Dines Green, Worcester, pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, and possession of heroin.

The defendant was travelling in a Vauxhall car in London Road on May 20 when it was stopped. Both occupants were arrested after a drug wrap was found on the driver.

Rivett told police she was a heroin addict on one gramme a day and also used crack cocaine frequently.

She had numerous convictions since 1996, including possession of £740 worth

of heroin with intent to supply it.

Tom Walking, defending, said she was acting as courier for a dealer to supply her own heroin needs. He had also intimidated her.

While in custody on remand, she miscarried and lost twins, but discovered that her drug addiction had not made her infertile.

Mr Walking said the fact that she could now have a family meant she had incentive to kick her drug habit and turn her life around.

She was working in the prison gardens and had completed a number of educational courses.

Judge Michael Mott said drug dealers need couriers to transport their evil consigments.

She had been given a chance in the past by being sentenced to a community penalty for drug possession in 2001.

He added: "Your history shows how people can make a complete mess of their lives through drug abuse.

''I hope your intent to give up drugs survives your release into the community."
