A FORMER pupil of Dines Green Primary School is organising a reunion to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary.

Dawn Stewart, aged 41, who is still in contact with some of her primary school friends, is looking for pupils who attended the school from 1954 to 1984 to share their memories at the special celebration.

She was a pupil at the school in Tudor Way, Dines Green, Worcester, from the age of five to eight, and has many fond memories.

"I think it's a brilliant school," she said. "I was five when I learnt to swim in an outdoor swimming pool there.

"The headmistress of the infants side, Miss Beer taught me how to swim. She even remembers it. She's in her 80s now and living in Oldbury Road, Worcester and I spoke to her on Tuesday morning.

"She has asked me to come round to see her."

Mrs Stewart's three daughters Thalia, 17, Fern, 15, and Chloe 14 are former pupils and her son Ellis, aged six, is currently at the school.

Mrs Stewart lost contact with her primary school friends when she moved to Tolladine and started at Stanley Road School.

When she returned to live in Dines Green 13 years ago, she was reunited with her primary school friends Michelle Wright (nee Battersea) and Karen Turner (nee Fieldhouse).

The big reunion is set for Monday, September 13, next year.

"I have joined Friends Reunited, and asked former people from the school to contact me about the reunion, but I have had no luck so far," said Mrs Stewart, of Drake Avenue, Dines Green.

Dines Green Primary School opened on September 13, 1954. "We couldn't let 50 years go by without celebrating it in some way," said Steve Gough, the school's head teacher.

"It will be nice to see some of the original pupils from the school.

"I know one or two pupils from the 1950s who have said they are going to come."

Anyone interested should call Mrs Stewart on 01905 429722.
