Once capped by England U-20s and also in the national youth sides, the Birmingham-born midfielder joined Harriers on a month's loan in late August.
Described by boss Ian Britton as someone with "a bit of everything", Murray is an energetic and tenacious player who also likes to get forward and score goals.
That is likely to be ideally his main role for Harriers who have been missing a creative midfield spark.
Murray has arrived from Derby where he is transfer listed by boss George Burley, despite being awarded a year's extension to his contract prior to the new manager's arrival.
He played 32 games in the Premiership, many while still a teenager, and enjoyed a great loan spell at Mansfield when they were promoted from Division Three, scoring seven goals.
League appearances/goals: Derby (98/99) 4, (99/2000) 8, (2000/01) 14, (01/02) 6, Mansfield (loan) 13/7, Derby (02/03) 24.
This season: 1 appearance.
Status: Should be back for Macclesfield game after illness.
