WINGER Thomas Skov-bjerg is putting his year-long injury nightmare behind him after taking a giant leap towards resurrecting his Kiddermin-ster Harriers career.

The talented Dane showed Harriers fans exactly what they have been missing when he made his Nationwide League Division Three debut as a second half substitute in last Tuesday's home 3-1 de-feat against Lincoln City.

It was his reward for fighting back from a devastating cruciate knee ligament injury sustained 12 months ago tomorrow.

After being drafted on in the 53rd minute on Tuesday he showed he had lost none of his skill and gave manager Jan Molby a welcome boost.

Skovbjerg said: "It was a good start. It has been a year now and I just wanted to be out there and feel what it's like. I was quite satisfied with the way I performed.

"The knee is alright now so it's just a question of looking forward and to get as much match fitness as possible. It's been very frustrating over the last two months because once in a while I felt I was ready to play, but there haven't been that many reserve games.

"I did better than I expected on Tuesday because I didn't really expect anything. It was a question of just getting started and I'm very satisfied.

"It's a bit early to say if I'll get in the starting line-up soon. I know from our physio Jim Conway that it will be up and down for maybe the rest of the season because when you've been out for that long it really takes a while until you are really fit.

"I just hope to get as much time in each games as possible and hopefully be 100 per cent ready at the end of the season.

"When I played in my first reserve game I was looking for how the knee would react, but I don't really think about it now.

"I don't think you can play if you are thinking about it because you would be restricted. I started to train with the lads five or six months ago and the knee has really been okay since then."
