COUNCILLOR Gareth Jones' views follow a history of Worcester City Council decisions of destroying our city heritage.
These include the demolition of the mediaeval Lychgate and the closure of the Museum of Local Life.
If these are the personal views of Councillor Jones then he should not have stated them as Mayor of the City.
The Mayor is the public representative of all the citizens of the city and as such he should be more considerate when he makes public statements. One can only hope that English Heritage and the Secretary of State, who will have to make the final decision on the demolition of a Grade II listed building, would show more sense.
