I'M grateful to Frank Jones, of Malvern (You Say, Thursday, July 10) for giving me the opportunity to expose the Prime Minister's dishonesty about my party's policies.

It's a matter of great concern to me that the PM's leading his MPs in a concerted campaign of deceit.

In the press release I issued to the Evening News, the day after my question to Tony Blair, I expressed concern over the way in which he dismissed my concern about the unfair deal given to Worcestershire's' schools.

I said: "... figures I now have show just how disadvantaged - relatively - Worcestershire's schools are to the rest of the country. And the Prime Minister also carefully avoided any acknowledgement of the sharp increases in costs facing local schools - national insurance, pension contributions and teachers' pay. He even felt obliged to tell a direct lie about my party's policies. We have no plans whatsoever to cut public expenditure by 20 per cent."

If the Prime Minister wants to be trusted on issues such as Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, he should get into the habit of telling the truth.

PETER LUFF,

MP for Mid-Worcestershire,

House of Commons.
