MORE than 50 people attended the demonstration day last Saturday that marked the opening of the Malvern Warriors Eskrima Club.
The day was a great success with some top martial artists attending, including Guro Krishna Godhania (world chief instructor), Peter Lewis and Dave Hand, from Warriors Eskrima.
From other arts were Sifu Anthony Rushton, who lives locally and practises Tai Chi and healing as well as the Wing Chun Kung Fu he is renowned for, Sifu Doug Wagstaff, of Peaceful fight Kung Fu, in Kidderminster, and Sensei Ian Hollman, of the Malvern Ki Aikido club.
The live demonstration of Warriors Eskrima lasted 40 minutes with some particularly fast action from Guro Krishna attacking Pete Lewis with a knife.
Pete survived the encounter and came through with flying colours!
Marcie Harding also felt the pressure as she tried in vain to keep up with Guro Krishna while demonstrating single cane flow drills at high speed!
Dave Hand took the brunt of the punishment as he very gamely was the fall guy when Guro Krishna and Pete Lewis demonstrated locks, chokes and takedowns!
