FIVE-star Chris Garrard was on cloud nine after his haul of tries ripped Otley apart in a 71-14 victory.

The Sixways win was the best of the season for Worcester Rugby Club as the Yorkshire men simply had no answer to the power and pace of the Gold'n'Blues.

Garrard's five tries beat his previous Sixways best - four against Manchester on the opening day of the season - but, modest as ever, the Australian winger paid tribute to his team-mates after the win.

"Again, I've been really lucky that most of the ball has come to me," he said.

"I think now you are beginning to see just what assistant coach Andy Keast has brought to the club. It is a combination of that, the backs seeing more of the ball and the ground drying out.

"We have a much more professional attitude at training and that transfers to match-days. Andy really comes down on you hard if you are not going to do the basics right. His attitude it that if you are not prepared to do the basics right, you don't deserve to be here."

Worcester's points difference has improved consistently since Keast's arrival in January. Three 60-plus points totals have been registered since he became assistant coach, something which was not achieved in the 16 games before his appointment.

And for Garrard, the results are no coincidence.

"Things are never going to happen overnight but I think you are beginning to see the influence. Wherever you work you need a kick up the backside sometimes to get the best out of people. Andy has made a big difference to the attitudes here and you can see that with our performances."

Garrard's performance, however, will no doubt be attracting interest from the Premiership as he comes to the end of his one-year contract. And the 24-year-old was keeping tight-lipped over his future.

"I don't know what I'm doing at the moment," he said. "A few of the guys have sat down and had a bit of a chat about contracts but at this stage I don't know. There are a few options available to me but we'll see."
