WESSEX came to Worcester with drama, music, song and humour when Thomas Hardy's passionate tale of rural love and obsession was brought to life in another good night of professional touring theatre at The Swan.
There was plenty of rural love as Wessex beauty Bathsheba Everdine tried to choose between her trio of wooing ex-Emmerdalers, Stephen McGann, Frazer Hines and Kevin Pallister.
Seasons and years passing and all the tale's great dramas and tragedies were played out against a cunning multi-purpose set.
Trained in musical theatre, Debbie Morris stood out as Lydia, Bathsheba's jolly maidservant and she was also a force in the folk music and song which helped to set the rural scene.
The play runs until Saturday Box office 01905 611427 (www.huntingdonhall.com).
