A 12-HOUR act of homage at Kidderminster's main war memorial proved a success when it was attended by about 150 people.
Greenhill district councillor Gordon Hinton, who helped co-ordinate the event outside St Mary's parish church on Sunday, said it went extremely well.
The homage, led by the Kidderminster Royal British Legion branch standard bearer Clive Wallbank and Quinton standard bearer Steve Yapp, was also attended by standard bearers from Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport.
Kidderminster Mayor Helen Dyke and Wyre Forest district councillor Ken Stokes, chairman of the War Memorial Conservation Trust, and trustees were also present at the event, which raised £154.
The trust was set up to raise £40,000 for re-engraving the fading names of those who died for their country and to clad the existing soft stone with a hard-wearing granite or marble. So far £6,000 has been collected.
