WORCESTER City could sentence their old rivals Gloucester City to relegation when the sides meet at Meadow Park on Monday (3pm).

The Tigers have been plagued by financial problems all season and are currently 20th in the Dr Martens League Premier Division, six points adrift of safety.

But manager John Barton believes it will be a tricky game, pointing to Gloucester's impressive home record which has seen them lose only twice.

Worcester, of course, may still be searching for points to guarantee their own safety, although they could already be safe depending on today's results.

Gloucester, who lost 4-0 at St George's Lane at Christmas, brought in several new players before the transfer deadline. Former Worcester players Steve Fergusson and Paul Chenoweth have both left the club.

Barton said: "It is their home form that has kept them in the fight for as long as it has.

"They seemed to be very strapped financially under Brian Hughes' leadership, but they have somehow managed to turn it round and bring players in.

"It won't necessarily be the side that has got them in this position that we will be facing, and it won't be an easy game -- there aren't any in this league."
