CHRIS Garrard has gone under the knife to cure his troublesome groin injury.

Worcester Rugby Club's win-ger struggled in the second half of the season with the mystery injury which needed further investigation.

However, after surgery this week, the Australian is expected to be fresh for the new season.

"Chris Garrard has had his surgery and has come through that OK," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain.

"The operation went well but, as yet, we have no real view on the recovery time. He'll be on a rehabilitation programme now.

"The surgeon had to go in their and actually find out what the problem was because we weren't sure. It was either going to be a hernia or a Gilmore's Groin which is a condition which a lot of athletes get.

"I'm not sure exactly what it was yet but I understand everything went well."

Meanwhile, Brain is expecting to know where Worcester will be playing their rugby next season.

With ongoing uncertainty surrounding relegation and promotion to the Premiership because of a Rugby Football Union inquiry into National One champions Rotherham's off the field shenanigans, Worcester are at present in limbo.

They do not know where they will be playing next season let alone what they will be playing for.

However, Brain expects to get some sort of indication by May 19.

"I think in around two week's time we should know our fate," he said. "We can then start to make some real decisions about the future of the club, the players and the coaches.

"It's been a very uncertain time for everyone at the club and it will be a relief to find out what exactly is going to happen."
