BROMSGROVE Rovers' emergency board meeting has been put back a week to next Monday.

The meeting, originally scheduled for tonight, is expected to discuss a fresh offer by chief executive Pat Bannister to buy out former chairman Stuart Arnold's shares.

Bannister claimed in Saturday's match programme that other directors had undermined his authority by holding what he said were "unofficial" board meetings.

He added that he was considering leaving the Dr Martens League Western Division club where he has been since February 1998.

He said today: "The situation is that there has been a lot of confusion with who is and isn't buying the club, whereby directors don't know who intends to purchase shares or who to take instructions from.

"Basically we want the meeting to put that issue to bed.

"Monday is D-day and if we can get an offer to Stuart and it is acceptable, we will then put it to the shareholders. We want this club to go forward.

"If not, they may need to get someone in on a day-to-basis. I may not be prepared to continue the way it is."

Rovers narrowly averted a winding-up order last season but, despite having several new directors, are still struggling financially.

On the field, Rovers entertain bottom club Racing Club Warwick in the Dr Martens League Western Division tonight (7.45).
