ORGANISERS of Kidderminster Carnival are hoping to raise up to £1,000 for charity with a "quacking" new event.
The carnival's first fund-raising duck race will be held on Saturday - a week ahead of the big day - in aid of Kemp Hospice, this year's chosen cause.
The ducks will be on sale for £1 in the town centre ahead of the race on the River Stour, which starts at the Tesco bridge at 4pm.
Carnival chairman Colin Hill said: "We are always thinking of ways of developing the carnival and already run an annual summertime concert in the run-up to the big day.
"Duck races are great fun and will fit well alongside the carnival. We're hoping for a keen race and lots of support."
The concert, featuring the West Midland Light Orchestra performing Broadway melodies, will be held at Kidderminster Town Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Tickets are still available from the venue, Bewdley Information Centre and Stourport Photo Centre.
Anyone who wants to enter a float in the street parade or have a stall at Brinton Park on June 21 should call Mr Hill on 01562 751634.
