JOHN Brain has paid tribute to Jim Jenner after the number eight was voted Worcester Rugby Club supporters' player of the season.

The Sixways head coach has been delighted with Jenner this season and believes a year in the Premiership has made him a better player.

"It's certainly made him a more confident player," said Brain. "It has given him more belief in himself and I think Worcester have benefited from his experience.

"I think since December, Jim has been very good for us. We've obviously been without Ben Clarke, but Jim has more than filled that void. The great thing for me about Jim is that he has the club at heart.

"I think the vote would have been tight though because Ben Hinshelwood, Richard Smith and Christian Evans have all had excellent seasons to name but a few."

Ben Clarke has formally announced his retirement from rugby after a long-standing neck injury. The former British Lions star, who signed for one season at Worcester in the summer, has decided to call it a day.
