A ROSS Knight goal after six minutes gave Stourport Swifts a 1-0 FA Cup first qualifying round replay win over Unibond One side Lincoln United.

Tuesday's win lined up a home clash with current Dr Martens Western Division leaders Solihull in the next round as well as earning a £7,500 windfall.

Knight capped an impressive display on the right flank with his match-winning strike.

The midfielder played a one-two with Simon Marsh before powering through a challenge and placing his shot over the head of Lincoln keeper Steve Curry.

Had Curry not pulled off an excellent reflex save midway through the first half, Knight could have doubled Stourport's tally and the visitors may have crumbled.

As it was, Lincoln kept battling with diminutive striker Kevin Ward busy up front.

Top scorer Lee Booth had a quiet day for Swifts but almost found the net on 25 minutes.

Curry produced another crucial save, while Booth's strike partner Nathan Harvey put a header over the bar from two yards.

Swifts dominated midfield and, with Marsh outstanding, there were always going to be chances.

The second half saw Alex Cowley have a shot touched over for a corner by Curry.

Stourport boss Rod Brown said: "We made things fairly difficult for ourselves as we must have created seven or eight good chances.

"It is worrying me a little bit that we are not finishing bread and butter chances but we did enough to get a result."
