THE fitness of forwards Drewe Broughton and Ian Foster will be under the spotlight at Kidderminster Harriers today.

Boss Jan Molby must check on both players before Saturday's Division Three home game with Roy McFarland's Torquay United.

Target-man Broughton gave Preston great problems in Tuesday's thrilling extra-time Worthington Cup defeat.

The strikers fought off injuries to make their first starts of the season but fellow front-men Stewart Hadley and Andy Ducros are waiting in the wings.

Molby admitted: "Drewe is naturally very fit but after his hamstring injury it depends how tired he is.

"I cannot say either him or Ian Foster are definite for Saturday. I took them off for two reasons on Tuesday - they had run out of legs and the Preston back-four was starting to come into its own.

"But they couldn't contend with Drewe. We used his strength and he created a lot of chances. Foster didn't get that much involved but his movement is always forward."

Torquay bounced back from a shocking start to the season with a fine 2-0 cup victory at Bournemouth in midweek.

Molby stressed: "That result proves, although we didn't need to be reminded, that every game will be tough.

"Torquay have a new manager with new ideas and it may take time. They are sure to come to try to frustrate us.

"They have a decent front-man in Eifion Williams who has good movement and everybody knows Brian Healy in midfield from his Conference days at Morecambe..

"We are still at the stage where teams can come here and feel they have a chance. We are still trying to find our feet and become an established Football League club."

There are a lot of positives Harriers can take out of the League Cup match.

Molby continued: "It will be good if we can play with the same purpose, aggression and pace as against Preston.

"If every player is mentally right, we have always got a chance. That means not losing tackles or headers and working as hard as possible. We have proved we are a very fit side."

Defender Adie Smith is set to return against Torquay after recovering from a groin strain.

Craig Hinton has fought off a virus that led to a shaky display in Saturday's 2-0 reverse at Darlington and also struck Dean Bennett and Matt Lewis.

Harriers hope for a good result against Torquay to go into a massive test on Bank Holiday Monday when they travel to one of the division's title favourites Hull (3pm).

They will welcome new midfielder Danny Williams for a possible debut at Boothferry Park after a four-match suspension.
