STOURPORT Swifts spluttered their way to a 4-2 victory against visitors Cinderford Town in the league on Saturday.

Boss Brown was just thankful his players' far from vintage display arrived against a below-par Forest of Dean side.

He said: "We didn't play well and I don't think they did either.

"I gave the players a rocket at half-time. We were scrappy and there was no pattern to our play. We didn't play to the standards that we have set ourselves."

And Brown admitted the atrocious weather prior to kick-off took its toll.

There were few clear chances during the first half until two goals in injury-time.

Simon Truman opened the scoring for the visitors but they held the upper hand for less than a minute.

Defender Leigh Hall headed the ball into his own net from a Shaw free-kick.

The game swung in Stourport's favour early in the second half as they scored twice in three minutes through Booth and Matt Southwick.

Booth found the net with a rebound after Dunn hit the post, while Southwick collected a Cowley through-ball before firing home.

Eston Chiverton pulled a goal back 10 minutes from the end but Swifts restored their two-goal advantage when Southwick rattled in his second of the match.
