KIDDERMINSTER Harriers midfielder Rene Petersen has joined Danish First Division Hvidovre on loan until July.

The deal is with a view to a permanent move for the 26-year-old Danish import who has struggled to settle in England.

Hvidovre have paid Kidderminster an undisclosed loan fee and also agreed a five-figure financial deal should the transfer become permanent.

Petersen, who made 18 appearance for Harriers scoring three goals, said: "I have enjoyed my time at the club and would not hesitate returning if required or if things didn't work out back home.

"I'd like to thank the fans for their support and wish Kidderminster all the very best for the rest of the season."

Aggborough boss Jan Molby said: "Obviously, it's not ideal to lose such a valuable member of the squad at this stage of the season, but Rene goes with my best wishes and the club's full support."

Petersen moved to Harriers during the summer from Belgian First Division side St Truiden where he had spent three and a half years.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster midfielder Shaun Cunnington has turned down a loan move to Telford United.

He has told Molby that he wants to stay at Aggborough and fight for a first team place.

Cunnington has suffered a series of injuries this season, but took a major step on the comeback trail when he was named as one of Harriers substitutes for Saturday's match at Kettering Town.

Kidderminster went down 3-1 and lost their place at the top of the Nationwide Conference table which is now headed on goal difference by title favourites Rushden & Diamonds.

The defeat ended Harriers run of 12 league matches without defeat.
